Why Sciple?

Sciple is short for Disciple, which has been a recurring theme in Dan’s life. Whether it be investing, sports, health or faith, discipleship is the deepest commitment and fastest path to learning, application and mastery. The Sciple name serves as a reminder to our clients that we will continuously strive to practice and improve upon the value investing principles created by Dodd, Graham, Buffett and Munger. The name also serves as a reminder, to us, that the mentorship and teachings of Hedge Fund Manager Phil Town, and his organization Rule1, were instrumental in helping us hone and systemize our value investing discipline and discipleship.

are we right for you?

Sciple is not interested in daily, monthly or quarterly price fluctuations. Our primary focus is long-term capital appreciation by selecting under-valued securities and holding those securities for long periods of time. Typically until they are selling at a premium to intrinsic value. If you enjoy checking your securities performance daily; we might not be the right firm for you.

about dan

Dan is not your typical Investment Manager as he’s spent no time on Wall Street and never intends to do so. He views this as an advantage as this helps Sciple avoid the ‘noise’ of news headlines, bull/bear alerts and the fear of missing out. Over the last 10+ years of brokering global technology partnerships at EMC, VMware and Equinix Dan has, in parallel, pursued his passion of investing in and studying the market. Over this time he’s made several successful investments in securities, real-estate and start-ups. Dan received a business degree from Saint Anselm College and a MBA specialized in Entrepreneurial Venture Creation from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He is an ongoing student at The Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing at Columbia University.
